Melbourne based company NV Access have developed the worlds only free and open source Windows screen reader NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access).  This enables users with visual disabilities the ability to access web sites designed with the WCAG guidelines in mind without spending a single cent.

NV Access is purely a not-for-profit organisation that relies on donations and grants to continue to develop this free software. Recently Adobe and Mozilla have committed funds and resources to this project furthering its ability to translate a wider variety of material including support for Adobe Reader and Flash embedded content.
