Government using social media to make product announcements

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is responsible for announcing product recalls, and traditionally has used newspaper advertising to alert consumers to new announcements. But the times they are a-changing, and now even Government entities like the ACCC are realising that to get people's attention, they need to use new media in the same way corporations are.

Starting in May, the ACCC has been using Twitter to make product recall announcements, taking advantage of new media in a way typically not seen in government.

Will other government agencies take up new media in the same way, or are they stuck in posting relatively inaccessible PDF files online, in the same way most state government gazettes are now published?
